Children's Librarian (Full-Time): Brandon Public Library, Brandon, MS
Position Summary
The Children’s Librarian is responsible for planning, developing, and delivering high-quality library services and programs for children from birth through age 12, as well as working with tweens and teens, and their caregivers. This position promotes early literacy, supports educational development, and fosters a lifelong love of reading through engaging programming, community outreach, and collection development.
Duties and Responsibilities
Plan and implement engaging programs for children, including story times and early literacy activities
Develop seasonal initiatives such as Summer Reading programs Maintain and promote children’s collections
Build partnerships with schools and community organizations Provide excellent customer service to patrons
Maintain program statistics and reports Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Library & Information Science, Elementary Education, Early Childhood Education or a related field required
MLIS preferred
Experience working with children preferred Strong communication and organizational skills
Ability to work a schedule within the hours of the branch, including evenings and weekend – 40 hours per work
Ability to lift 30–40 pounds and perform shelving tasks
Salary and Benefits
$15.00 – $18.00 per hour (paid monthly)
Includes health, dental, vision, life insurance, and PERS participation
