Fred C. Smith, former owner of Choctaw Books of Jackson, Mississippi, has joined the staff of Special Collections at the Mitchell Memorial Library at Mississippi State University. In his position of Rare Book Consultant and Researcher, his responsibilities include acquisitions and collection development with emphasis on enhancing and publicizing the Mississippiana Collection. Other duties include the identification of rare and important books and materials within the Library Collection.
